Hiring Now – Chief Investigative Editor (closed)
Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), the region’s leading investigative reporting organization, is hiring a chief investigative editor to lead a team of investigative reporters from its Amman headquarters in Jordan.
The position is the top editorial rank at ARIJ, and includes overseeing daily operations of ARIJ’s cross-border collaborative work as well as tackling in-depth stories in a difficult region. The chief editor will work with a group of ARIJ-trained editors and journalists and may be required to do some travel within the Arab region.
The ideal candidate will have worked for at least 10 years as an investigative reporter, and at least five years as an investigative editor. He/she was preferably employed at an award-winning media institution known for producing “accountability journalism” or at an NGO producing and disseminating investigative reports.
To succeed in this position, you must:
- Be proactive and audacious;
- Have the ability to work across cultures and in austere and sometimes difficult environments;
- Possess excellent teaching and leadership skills;
- Have experience working in the MENA region.
Arabic language skills and knowledge of innovative investigative storytelling techniques are a big plus.
