Job Vacancy at ARIJ: Communication officer
ARIJ is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated communication officer to join our Amman-based team to be responsible for the website, the monthly newsletter and social media activities.
ARIJ is the only region-wide organization in the Arab world exclusively dedicated to advancing investigative journalism and to creating a community of support for IJ practitioners in the region and linking them to international peers. ARIJ’s vision is to advance excellence in investigative journalism with the aim of increasing accountability, transparency and access to information in the Arab world for the public good.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in communication, journalism, computer technology, public relations or related communications field; minimum three years’ work experience.
Excellent written communication skills in Arabic and English. Ability to develop written communications clearly for the public and to proof read and edit documents.
Able to juggle many projects at one time and meet all deadlines
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Enthusiasm for the use of technology in the delivery of content, discussion about substantive issues.
Work well on a team and be willing to pitch in however needed to accomplish the goals of the organization.
Demonstrated commitment to our mission and goals

Experience with WordPress CMS.
Expertise in all major business software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.).
Excellent in Photoshop and image editing programs.
Fluency in web analytics tools (Google Analytics).
Newsletter designing skills.
Basic knowledge of file creation including PDFs, JPEG, GIFS, etc. as used for web sites.
Support IT on-site hosting, maintenance and security.
3. Preferred experience
Graphic design is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with different file formats.
Audio and Video Production experience.
Experience in training others on the use of computer-based systems helpful.
Experience with journalists or news organization
Communication and outreach through social media, email and other means as required
Develop, write and publish monthly newsletter.
Daily content updates (editing and publishing: investigations, news, opportunities and tips for journalists).
Manage and support outreach for investigations.
Keeping ARIJ’s social media active and attractive.
Review statistics and monitor analytics, and provide (Program Director) with the results on monthly basis.
Coordinate with IT to develop new features.
Focus of day-to-day activities, the improvement of the website as a whole.
Post and edit new content contributed by others; identifying and prioritizing content to be revised. Establish a calendar of updates.
Support and update the social media specialist with all new investigation, news and opportunities published on ARIJ website.
