Announce request for proposals to develop online training curriculum

Audience
Online training developers, organizations focusing on education, online training, universities with online training

ARIJ will create online learning modules that teach investigative journalism, based on existing resources. ARIJ manual is an important resource yet needs to be updated for the online and digital era. This manual will serve as the basis of the online learning course on investigative journalism.

Those interested in working with ARIJ on this project are requested to submit a financial proposal as well as technical proposal, with an explanation of the technology and the process of creating the online course. We also request the pedagogy behind your online training theories.

About ARIJ – Executive Summary
In 2015-2016, ARIJ will be celebrating its 10th year anniversary. ARIJ is the only region-wide organization in the Arab world exclusively dedicated to advancing investigative journalism and to creating a community of support for IJ practitioners in the region and linking them to international peers. To date, it has been supporting the proliferation of IJ in 9 countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.
ARIJ’s vision is to advance excellence in investigative journalism with the aim of increasing accountability, transparency and access to information in the Arab world for the public good.
How ARIJ defines investigative journalism
IJ is still a relatively new way of doing journalism in the region, requiring dedication to collecting evidence, storytelling, fact-checking and confronting culprits. IJ is ultimately a service to make peoples’ lives better.

The history of ARIJ
ARIJ was founded in 2005 in Amman, Jordan. It is the brainchild of several leading Arab journalists, editors, media activists and professionals who came together with a like-minded group of Danes driven by a commitment to professional in-depth reporting for the benefit of local communities. It is governed by a board of directors made up of leading IJ experts from the region and Europe. See Annex 1 for a list of ARIJ board members.
ARIJ is the only region-wide organization in the Arab world exclusively dedicated to advancing investigative journalism and to creating a community of support for IJ practitioners within the region and with their international peers. To date, it has been supporting the proliferation of IJ in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.
ARIJ’s long-term aspirations
By 2020, ARIJ aspires to be the leading resource center for aspiring and practicing investigative journalists in the region. More specifically, it strives to offer members and partners trainings, unique information resources, access to top resource persons and an opportunity to link and learn. It also seeks to be the “go to” organization on IJ for individuals or organizations, regional or international, seeking to advance IJ and to advance accountability and transparency in the region.
