Children with Cochlear Implant are Given a Glimmer of Hope

Upon publishing a report by ARIJ, 5 individuals with cochlear implants, including one that participated in the survey, were granted an alternative external device.

“Cochlear Implant in Jordan: A Hope Despite the Challenges”, a story by journalist Siba Mansour, exposed a serious problem in the cochlear implant for deaf kids in Jordan. Those kids are not provided with adequate rehabilitation services, spare parts and the maintenance are quite a burden on the families of these children.

Upon publishing the story, 5 individuals with cochlear implants, including one that participated in the survey, were granted an alternative external device. More families were granted an alternative external device later on. This report was done as part of 100 Watt Fellowship, supported the Embassy of Netherland in Jordan.
