This investigation reveals how delivery companies in Egypt mistreat their couriers by classing them as “independent workers” rather than employees. Doing so allows companies to evade responsibility toward their workers, namely in terms of social insurance and compensation in case of accidents. And it enables them to impose harsh working conditions without legal protection. This method of employment exploits legal loopholes and takes advantage of weak official oversight of company practices.

This investigation shows how touristic projects have expanded along Egypt's north-west coast. A nine-month cross-border investigation reveals that Europe’s used-clothing system, touted as sustainable, is fueling a hidden, carbon-intensive trade that shifts environmental costs abroad. Through exclusive trade data, a designated carbon footprint analysis, AirTag tracking, and exclusive customs documents, we expose how fast-fashion overproduction, legal loopholes, weak enforcement, and opaque logistics have turned clothing circularity into a climate liability.

In this investigation, we reveal how a parallel reality is unfolding on the streets of Jordan: a full ecosystem of illegal smart ride-hailing apps operating openly. This continues despite the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship’s March 2024 announcement that it would block 24 unlicensed smart ride-hailing apps in the country. At the same time, some of the companies behind these “unlicensed” apps claim they have applied multiple times for the required licenses but have yet to receive approval.

This investigation reveals how village youth centers across Egypt lack the necessary equipment to accommodate athletes with disabilities, something which goes against the principle of “inclusion” laid down by law and guaranteed by the constitution. This is causing disabled people to avoid taking part in sports.

This investigation draws on testimonies from former residents and two former staff members of the forensic ward, as well as insights from legal and mental health experts. The accounts reveal harsh detention conditions endured by inmates, in blatant violation of United Nations guidelines on mental health and the rights of persons with disabilities. Official documents obtained by our team also show that some residents remain confined even after achieving social recovery—either because they lack a guarantor or are awaiting reconciliation procedures.
