Fojo Media Institute led a regional Meeting at ARIJ’s office in Amman from 4 to 6 October 2026, in partnership with the Samir Kassir Foundation (SKF), under the AGILE project, co-funded by the European Union.
The three-day workshop brought together journalists and media trainers from Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon to develop two courses for journalism students: the Dig Better Investigative Journalism course, and a course on coping with stress and trauma.
Participants started by looking at journalism education in each country, including gaps in current curricula and the needs of journalism students and early-career journalists. The SKF team shared the experience in Lebanon, while the ARIJ team shared their experiences in both Egypt and Jordan. The group then worked on the structure and content of both courses, and ended with country plans for delivering them at universities in 2026 and 2027.
Participants agreed to combine the two courses, so that students learn not only how to carry out investigations, but also how to deal with the pressures and risks that come with them. The combined course will be piloted at universities in the coming months, with students supported in producing and publishing their own investigations.
