ARIJ investigation “Algeria-Tunisia Gas Pipeline Tramples on Rights of Tunisian Farmers” by Tunisian journalist Jihane Nasri received a special mention from the jury of Lina Ben Mhenni Prize for Freedom of Expression in its fifth edition.

This investigation reveals that the Trans Tunisian Pipeline Company (Sergaz), the local representative of the Italian company Eni, has failed to respond to the demand by farmers for an increase in land rents for the land that lies on the route of the pipeline, and has not kept promises to support development projects, nor met its corporate social responsibilities (CRS) in Kasserine Governorate.

Lina Ben Mhenni Prize for Freedom of Expression was created in 2020 at the initiative of the European Union, in memory of late blogger and activist Lina Ben Mhenni, to reward the best articles defending the principles and values of democracy, freedoms and rights shared between Tunisia and the EU.
