ARIJ’s report ‘Hands in The Dark’ by Jordanian journalist Muna Abu Hammour won Al-Hussein Award for Journalistic Creativity in the category of news reporting.

Published in April 2024, the report exposed sexual abuses faced by visually impaired students in a public school in Jordan, amid the absence of oversight and protection by the school administration, leaving these students vulnerable to serious psychological and health risks.

The award for print and online journalism went to Firihan Hassan for a column, Muna Abu Hammour for a news report, and Ahmad Tamimi and the late Montaser Gharaibeh for interviews.

In the broadcast media category, Obeida Dmour won for an investigative or documentary programme, while Shadi Shakhanbeh received the award for a news story, report or radio/TV interview.

The photojournalism prize was shared by Saher Qadareh and Nazzal Abu Kaf, while the Jerusalem Award, which recognises works highlighting the city’s Arab, Islamic and international significance, went to Awda Khawaldeh.
