This comes as an indirect response to the “Falling on Deaf Ears: Nobody Listens to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Egyptian Government Institutions” investigation by journalist Ayat Khairy, which was first published in English on August 23, 2020. The Investigation sheds light on the difficulties deaf and hard of hearing people encounter in government hospitals in Egypt and other institutions due to the absence of sign interpreters.
