An ARIJ-BBC investigation, “The schools that chain boys” broadcasted on October 19 on BBC and published on November 2 on ARIJ platform, uncovered the systemic child abuse inside Islamic schools in Sudan, known as Khalawi, managed by sheikhs, and spread all over the country.

The investigation prompted the parliament to begin an investigation into the Khalawi and the story headlined international and local Sudanese media.
