ARIJ, in partnership with GRC (Global Rights Compliance), conducted a specialized workshop focusing on the GRC Starvation Mobile application, an innovative tool designed to document starvation crimes and violations associated with humanitarian crises. The workshop, aimed at journalists and attendees at the ARIJ 17TH forum, and it provided instruction on using the application, which is available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.

10 journalists attended the 90-minute workshop (40% females). 

Led by the former Executive Director of Mwatana for Human Rights, Ms. Noha Al-Ariqi, the workshop focused on empowering participants on how to use the application and its accompanying guide, available in Arabic and English, in order to understand the standards of investigating and documenting starvation-related violations.

The application helps in exposing starvation crimes, which are a serious violation of international humanitarian law and international criminal law. It enables frontline actors to gather evidence, report violations, and contribute to international accountability mechanisms.

Participants gained practical skills and technical knowledge to use the application in their respective fields of work, to enhance compliance with international humanitarian law and international criminal law standards and promote accountability for violations related to humanitarian crises.
