New Fellowship Opportunity from ARIJ and "FPU" to Support Investigative Journalism in Jordan

October 18, 2023

ARIJ is pleased to announce the opening for four six months fellowship opportunities in the Editorial Department. These fellowships will commence on December 1, 2023, as part of a collaboration between ARIJ and “Free Press Unlimited” (FPU), in cooperation with the Dutch Embassy in Amman.

These opportunities are available for investigative journalists from Jordan with a minimum of five years of journalistic experience. The application should include samples of published work, any previously published investigative reports (if applicable), and a feasible investigative proposal that can be executed in Jordan within a maximum period of three months, along with preliminary research.

ARIJ will provide:

  1. A monthly stipend of $800 to support investigative work throughout the fellowship (6 months).
  2. Priority access to any ARIJ training sessions free of charge.
  3. Participation in ARIJ’s 16th Annual Forum in 2023.
  4. An end-of-fellowship recommendation letter from ARIJ’s management, contingent on the successful completion of an investigative project during the fellowship.

The application process for these fellowships will be open from October 18, 2023, until October 31, 2023. Successful fellowship recipients will be announced in the second week of November.

Priority will be given to applicants with executable investigative ideas, in addition to other factors including their resumes, past work, and reasons for applying. Successful applicants should commit to full-time engagement with ARIJ during the fellowship (5 days a week, 8 hours a day).
